A lot of fuss

I don't know where this country is going to ... surely it's not going forward very fast with people so determined to keep it in some tight and narrow path to .... to ... oblivion.

At the risk of sounding agnostic ... or even atheist, I am bewildered that we are fighting to holding on to 7th century beliefs ... Muslims and Christians alike.

Is it not possible to live in this century?

It's going to be a bad year

I was hoping that today, the first day of 2010, would be a event-less day. Because December 30th brought an 'invitation' from MCMC for a bit more questioning on the kepala lembu (Hishammuddin Onn) video which I had to attend yesterday, Dec 31st. So it looks like kepala lembu's agency will take us to court because he had put his hooves into this mouth. What irony!

Then Uthaya, whom we had given so much coverage (+ Hindraf), declared Hindraf was suing us. Fucking ingrate! So we'll be spending a good part of 2010 in the corridors of the court covering cases against us.

But if that wasn't enough, my Mrs goes and put petrol in our diesel engined Fiat! And I was just hit with a RM4,300 repair bill on the car for a screwed aircond system! These are not omens because they are too blatant. 2010 will be a fucked up year for me.

New America, One Malaysia

Some fucking bad shots ...

A Prelude to the 2009 Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit The Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit is an annual active network, since 2006, for some 200 dynamic emerging leaders from the Asia-Pacific and the US, to build relationships and engage in interdisciplinary dialogue and cultural exchange. The summit, is also the highlight of Asia Society’s Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative, to gather exceptional young leaders of tomorrow from every country in the Asia-Pacific and US region and from various disciplines, and to provide a platform for these young leaders to network across geographic boundaries, develop collaborative approaches to shared challenges, and educating each other in the highest ideals of values-based leadership.

While we were frustrated at not being able to get online, Kamal had plenty of time to 'strut his stuff'.

We had just returned from interviewing Nai Khan Kari on the eve of polling which was May 30th. A self-shot. Aizu is at the back. And Maran can still pose while the car is moving at quite a speed....

In rural Penanti, you see this 'castle'. Who does it belong to and it's rather out of place. Hopefully it's not one of those 'Zakaria mansions' -- you know, the Umno leader who built a mansion costing millions of ringgits in a squatter area.

Yet another memorandum to Suhakam

Isn't such a waste of time? Why bother sending memo after memo after memo to Suhakam on human rights issues? What have they done at all to address abuses to the rights of citizens? Do the cops laugh everytime Suhakam wants to meet them on issues? Do the RELA chief sniggers too?

And folks of the human rights group, when you want to do this to drum up some publicity to show that you are doing something, don't do it last-minute. Create a bit of a show for great photo ops. This handing over is not great photo op.

What have I voted for?

KeADILan’s Position on Perak
Parti Keadilan Rakyat accepts the decision to elect PAS State Assemblyman, Sdr. Ir Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as Menteri Besar of Perak. While at first we stressed the need to choose an individual that will be well received by the majority, we now accept the decision in the spirit of cooperation between KeADILan, PAS and DAP as well as in the interests of stability and harmony for Perak and for the whole of Malaysia.
Nonetheless, we do not agree with the agreement made between PAS and DAP with regards to the composition of the Perak State Exco wherein eight Exco seats are given to DAP and the remaining two given to the other parties. In the spirit of sincere openness, we stress that the composition of the Exco must reflect the composition of the population of Perak and represent the interests of all ethnic groups fairly. All parties must be sensitive to the hopes and sentiments of the people.
We ask that this composition be discussed again and if the composition is not altered to the satisfaction of all parties involved, KeADILan will not take part in the administration of Perak.
However, we will continue to honour our agreement to support the coalition government of Perak.
Dr. Syed Husin Ali
Deputy President
Parti Keadilan Rakyat

I thought that the opposition coalition is supposed to get away from race-based politics, so what’s the meaning of Syed Husin’s statement?

Why should the exco reflect the composition of the population of Perak …..?
Should not the exco reflect the voting of the people of Perak? Or is it that PKR still believe that ethnic, communal representation has to the order of the day because they feel that DAP cannot represent the Perak Malays?

So, what have I voted for? More of the same?
